Things you need to know before you go for your first boxing match


All around the world, boxing gyms are popping up each day. If you would love to do boxing either for fun or as something serious, you will need to sign up for a boxing class. One of the things you will learn at is you can get some classes where you can get started. The one thing you will need to do is to get a gym that you will of or your gym class. Do your research on the type of gym you would like to go to and the membership fee. You might have to talk to a couple of gyms and figure out which one will work for you and which one will not. Once you have the gym of choice, then the next thing you need to do is start on your classes. The first class will be the hardest to start, but you will be on your way to crashing your boxing goals once you do.  Here are some of the things you should do before you go for your first class.


Take a rest    

Before your first day of working out, it is recommended that you take a rest. You might not know you need it, but your body will thank you later. Take your time and maybe do some light stretching, so your muscles do not get tense. It is also a recommendation from most trainers to drink enough water before you go boxing. You will work out so hard that you might sweat a lot, which will end up being dehydrated.

Prepare your body for a beating

The main assumption people make is that boxing is all about throwing punches. The truth is, boxing is a full-body workout. All your limbs will get worked out when you get to the gym. Getting mentally prepared will help you when your body starts taking a beating.

Learn the basics

 One of the things you will learn in boxing will be all about the stance you take. There are so many stances that you might get overwhelmed if you have to learn about them on the same day. For this reason, it makes sense if you should look at the stances and even practice in your house. In doing so, you get to learn faster and will not spend a lot of tie on the simple things with the trainer.

Know how to throw your punches

Aside from the stance, you have to know how to throw a punch. When starting out, there will be the temptation of you wanting to put all your weight in a punch. If you want to start out well, hold back on the weight you put in all the punches. If you are not keen, you might hurt your wrists or even injure your whole arm. Take it slow and listen to the instructions your trainer might give you.

 Get the right gear

Before you go to the lass, ensure you get the right gear.  Your trainer might give you a pair of gloves, but if they do not, then get a pair of gloves. They might be expensive, but it will go a long way to ensure that you can participate in class well. The other thing you can also do is to get wristbands, a mouthguard, and sporting shoes.  They will ensure that you are comfortable enough in class and do not feel out of place. Buying the gear at the beginner will also mean that you are all in and will stay committed to the end.

Do not get tired of practicing

One of the things you will realize when you start out is, you will not be good at most of the things you try out. It can be disheartening to see other people in the gym caught on to the techniques faster than you. The one thing you need to remember in such a scenario is, do not to give up.  Keep practicing and learning what the trainer tells you. You might need to put in a few extra days of work, and you will get there. You could also ask the trainer for extra tips if you feel like you a failing. Being mentally prepared to put in the work is what will give you the will to keep going on.

Going to the gym can be very daunting, especially if it is your first time.  It, therefore, helps if you get prepared before you head there. You might need to calm yourself down or do a couple of relaxing exercises, the first days might be hard, but they always pay off in the end. The best thing you need to do is to get to a gym, and you are good to go.
